Introduction
I. (Attention Getter) In a study last year by Dermatology Nursing, Dr. Robin Hornung surveyed several hundred UW students about their tanning habits. A vast majority admitted to purposely tanning their skin, of these 42% of females and 17% of males reported using tanning salons in their quest.
II. (Audience Adaptation) In the world we live in, appearance is everything. Personal hygiene goes far beyond taking showers and wearing deodorant. We bleach our teeth, go on crasy diets to maintain our weight, dye our hair, use loads of skin products…
III. (Purpose) However, not everything we do to look good is safe for our bodies. And today, I’m going to delve into the controversial and mysterious world of sunless tanning.
IV. (Preview) Tanning salons versus topical treatments.
A. The first theory suggests a bomb brought down the Boeing 747.
B. Others believe a missile destroyed the airplane.

Err… I don’t know. It was late. I wrote the tanning stuff, over the sample speech, which happened to be about some plane crash…
